Location

The cottage is within walking distance (1 mile) from Ennerdale Bridge, with two pubs offering good food. For further details of a selection of local shops, cafes, restaurants and markets, click here.

The area is an excellent base for visiting all of the western and northern Lake District, with its many, varied attractions, and is close to the beautiful coastline at St. Bees.

Walking in the local area ranges from valley and coastal to high mountains such as Pillar and Great Gable in the Ennerdale valley and the Scafell range in neighbouring Wasdale. The coast to coast walking path also brushes past us.

Both road and mountain biking are excellent, with many signed cycle routes, quiet lanes and forest tracks.

Canoeing in the area is exceptional for the novice to middle grade paddler with numerous grade 1 to 3 river trips and possibilities for sea trips.

Rock climbing in Wasdale and Borrowdale are both in easy reach, with excellent bouldering nearby at St. Bees.
