Introduction

Bankend Cottage is the original farm house to which the present farm house is attached. The date stone on the current farm house is 1687, but the stone spiral staircase in the cottage pre-dates that by some 30 to 50 years. Former residents include the well-known mountaineer Sir Chris Bonington.

The cottage has been recently renovated, maintaining its original and charming character, whilst offering comfortable, spacious, modern accommodation.

Bankend offers a holiday with a truly low carbon footprint as both the farm and cottage are powered by green energy. This includes a wind turbine located at a distance from the cottage to generate electricity and a ground source heat pump which provides underfloor heating throughout. The conservatory forms a sunny space in which to enjoy a view of the outdoors even on cooler days.

There is a lawn with table and chairs outside the conservatory and we are happy for guests to look round the rest of the garden and take advantage of the fresh produce when in season.
